What fireplace accessories do you need for your real fire?
Starting from where the coal comes from all the way to toasting marsh mellows on your real fire.
A coal hod is a container for coal. It is very similarly to a coal bucket but is normally a vertical cylinder with a slanted opening at the top to let you pour the coal onto the fire without the coal spilling onto the carpet or floor. Once you’ve got your coal in, the coal has to have somewhere to go once it has been burnt so an ash pan is needed. Â Ash pans are holders that fit beneath a fire grate to collect ashes to make it easier to remove and clean, which makes everyone happy. You can also get easy to use handles that can be removed when in use and then you can pick it up when it’s hot making them the perfect way to have a real fire that is also convenient for a modern day person.
The fire grate is for large or fire basket made for small fires and is extremely useful but make sure you purchase an ash pan to place under the fire to catch the ash, this makes the cleaning of the fire a lot easier. Â There are many styles of fire basket available reflecting room styles. They can be period, traditional or modern.
Companion sets are both decorative and practical accessories for your fire place. Commonly it will consist of a poker, hearth brush, log roller, tongs and a shovel. They also come in a variety of styles and finishes. Fire place fenders give a neat edging to a hearth to mark the end of it. This will act as a barrier to stop the mess going from the hearth onto the floor or carpet. Â Fire trims provide a finishing touch to your fireplace to make it look like it’s meant to be there with the wall.
To accompany your coal fire there are many fireplace accessories that make the hearth a very decorative focal point.  Contemporary ranges of Companion sets come in many styles and finishes with modern or tradition styles available. Fireplace accessories come in many styles and finishes with modern or tradition styles available.
